JAMMU, June 17: Local Shaheed Samark Committee, Sainik Colony under the patronage of the Sainik Cooperative House Building Society Limited (SCHBS), Jammu paid floral tributes to the gallant Martyr IS Babbar on his 18th Martyrdom Anniversary.
Major Babbar had bravely sacrificed his life in the Counter Insurgency Operations on June 17, 2003 while killing 3 Bodo militants single handedly. He was awarded ‘Kirti Chakra’ (posthumously) by President of India.
A number of dignitaries including Major Harnam Singh (Ex-Joint Chairman SCHBS Limited), locals and family members paid floral tributes to Martyr Major Babbar with wet eyes and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
The event was conducted while maintaining proper social distancing. The event concluded with vote of thanks by Col GS Babbar, father of the Martyr.
Prominent among other present on the occasion were Brig Suchet Singh, Brig SS Saini, Col HS Bali, Col Atma Singh, Maj Jamit Singh, Capt Chuni Lal, Jai Singh (ex-councillor), SS Latti, Sikander Singh, Gurmeet Randhawa (Councillor Ward No 69), Balbir Singh (President, Gurudwara), Karam Jeet Singh and Dilip Singh.
