JAMMU, Sept 24: General Category Peoples Welfare Forum and Aarakshan Virodhi Manch (AVM) jointly paid tributes to the young martyrs of anti-Mandal Commission agitation of 1990.
In an impressive function here today glowing tributes were paid to the martyrs.
Speaking on the occasion, Ram Pal Seth-President AVM said that the young martyrs displayed courage, determination and commitment to awaken the nation against the caste based reservation.
He said that the reservation issue then was nothing but an attempt to communalize the situation to further divide and rule policy of the then Government.
A handout of the AVM stated that the then Prime Minister V.P Singh suddenly accepted the Mandal Commission report without consulting his cabinet colleagues and without applying mind which triggered a massive nationwide agitation bringing the Government to a collapsing point.
A two minutes silence was observed wherein all prayed to God to give peace to the departed souls of martyrs.
