JAMMU, Nov 22: Rich tributes were paid to Lt Gen Bikram Singh and five other martyr officers on their 51st death anniversary.
In this connection, a programme was organized by Lt Gen Bikram Singh Yadgar Committee in collaboration with the State Akali Dal, at Bikram Chowk Jammu.
Kiran Wattal, Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation, was chief guest on the occasion while BJP Incharge for J&K, Avinash Rai Khanna, MLA Jammu -East Ashok Khajuria and Chairman Citizens Cooper-ative Bank Dinesh Gupta were among the special guests.
Paying tributes to Lt Gen Bikram Singh, Lt Gen Doulat Singh, Air Vice-Marshal E W Pintu, Maj Gen K N D Nanavati, Brig S R Oberai and Flight Lt S S Sodhi, speakers threw light on great services of the martyrs, who died in a tragic helicopter crash at Poonch on November 22, 1963. An all religion prayer was also organized for peace to the departed souls.
Lalita Sharma, chairman of the Yadgar Committee, threw light on life of the great General, who was very particular about welfare of his soldiers.
S Gajan Singh, president of State Akali Dal and S Harinder Singh, chief organizer GBSYC, also spoke on the occasion. They recalled that General Bikram Singh was so loved by people of J&K that body of the martyr was also cremated in Jammu at Bikram Chowk.
