JAMMU, June 14: Rich tributes were paid to Brigadier Rajinder Singh on his 118th birth anniversary.
Minister for Industries and Commerce Chander Prakash Ganga paid floral tribute to Brigadier Rajinder Singh along with DDC Samba Sheetal Nanda, SSP Samba Anil Magotra, Director Radio Kashmir Jammu Anjali Sharma, President Dogra Sadar Sabha Gulchain Singh Charak, President JKESL Major General Goverdhan Singh Jamwal, ex-sarpanchs, ex-panchs, senior citizens paid floral tribute to martyr Brigadier Rajinder Singh in a programme organised by Brigadier Rajinder Singh War Memorial Committee and Brigadier Rajinder Singh Youth Brigade Rajinder Pura at Brigadier Rajinder Singh memorial park at village Rajinder Pura, Bagoona.
Brigadier Rajinder Singh sacrificed his life for the nation on October 27, 1947 while fighting thousands of tribal raiders assisted by Pakistani army at Buniyar, Uri Sector in Kashmir.
A cultural programme was also presented by children from different schools and renowned singers.

Former Minister and JKPCC General Secretary Manjit Singh today alleged that J&K Government has never recognized sacrifices of the soldiers who laid down their lives for the cause of nation. Manjit Singh was speaking before the people at Rajinder Singhpura while laying flower tributes to Brigadier Rajinder Singh on his birth anniversary. Former Minister said that Brig Rajinder Singh is known as saviour of Kashmir because he was the only army officer who laid down his life while fighting enemy. Those who were present were Ex-Sarpanch Brij Pal Singh, Ex-Sarpanch Sham Lal Bhagat, Babbal Gupta, Ram Saran, etc.
Yuva Rajput Sabha celebrated the 118th birth anniversary of Brigadier Rajinder Singh under the leadership of Rajveer Singh President of the Sabha at Brigadier Rajinder Singh chowk. Large number of members of the Sabha garlanded the statue Brigadier Singh. Sweets were also distributed among children and the public during the function.
Speaking on the occasion, Rajveer Singh threw light on the life of martyred Brigadier Rajinder Singh.
Among others, who spoke were Surinder Singh, Raghubir Singh, Ranjeet Singh, Rajinder Singh, Parveen Singh, Advocate Daljeet Singh, Varinder Partap Singh, Mukesh Singh, Arjun Singh, Pancham Singh, Sohan Singh, Vikram Singh, etc.
To remember Brigadier Rajinder Singh, J&K Freedom Fighters Association (JKFFA) held a function on his birth anniversary at Bal Niketan, Ved Mandir Amphalla. The function was organized by President of the Association Ved Gandotra.
RS Jamwal, Joint Commiss-ioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation was the chief guest.Members paid floral tributes by showering of petals on the photograph of Brigadier and candles were also lit in his honour amidst singing of National Anthem by the children of the Bal Niketan. The members also remembered many freedom fighters.
Prominent who spoke on the occasion were State President, Shri Ram Sena, Rajiv Mahajan and Parbhat Kapahi.
