SAMBA, May 11: On the 14th death anniversary of the couple namely Hoshiyar Singh and Shashi Bala, who were killed in the terrorist attack on May 11, 2008, a tribute programme was organized at Shashi Bala Memorial park in the District Hospital premises.
Heartfelt tributes were paid to the late Hoshiyar Singh and his wife Shashi Bala.
ADDC Samba Rajinder Singh was the chief guest on the occasion. Medical Officer Dr Mohindra Sharma was also present as the guest of honor.
Apart from people from all walks of life, many dignitaries also participated in the programme.
It is pertinent to mention here that in the year 2008, the terrorists had entered the house and killed the couple and later both the terrorists entered someone’s house in Kehli Mandi wherein a photojournalist Ashok Sodhi was martyred in the attack.
The security forces had killed both the terrorists, which lasted for ten hours.
Hoshiyar Singh was a social worker as well as a politician. His wife Shashi Bala was working in the District Hospital. The death of these two had shocked the city of Samba.
After this incident, many social organizations had demonstrated and demanded investigation.
Kuldeep Dabgotra, District President, JKMEF, Devindra Kumar, Sunil Bandral, Bagh Ali, Sunil, Sahil Chandel, Chaggar Singh, Kulbir Singh, Anil Khajuria, Reshwar Singh, Ranju, Rohit Pargal and family members of the couple also participated in the programme.
