JAMMU, July 25: Taking a dig at the BJP, J&K Congress has said that the Indian Tri-colour always flew high all over Jammu and Kashmir since 1947, when Maharaja Hari Singh signed the instrument of accession & accepted by India, by the then Governor General, under the Prime Ministership of Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru and people of Jammu and Kashmir have given countless sacrifices for the protection and dignity of national flag .
“The tri-clour is more dear to people of J&K than their own life and entire nation has to draw lessons from the patriotic people of Jammu and Kashmir on the issue of nationalism,” JKPCC chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma said.
It’s not first time when the BJP has tried to indulge in such publicity campaigns, on the issue of nationalism at the cost of lives of our brave jawans but in 1992 too, then BJP president Murli Manohar Joshi landed in Jammu with thousands of citizens, however, had to abandon the forward plans due to security situation, when the then Government at the Centre & State, ensured the hoisting of national flag by Joshi and few others under heavy security cover.
All through 75 years, the Tricolour flied high all over in J&K, on all constitutional institutions, through out the year besides in an enthusiastic and colourful manner on all important occasions, said JKPCC chief spokesperson.
The brave and patriotic people of Jammu and Kashmir and the security forces never allowed the anti- India elements to fiddle with the nationalist spirit and sentiments and always defeated all such attempts by handful of Pakistani agents and stooges.
The nationalist people of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh never lagged behind from supreme sacrifices to safeguard the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country, faced pain and sufferings of partition besides three wars but always kept the triclour high and flying. He said the credit for the security situation goes to the security forces and our brave jawans who earned it through supreme sacrifices and it becomes possible for the publicity hungry BJP leaders to hoist national flag in Lal Chowk under tight vigil and security arrangements.
Sharma also referred to the speech of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in Jammu the other day and lauded him for adding grace to the high office occupied by him, by not indulging in mudslinging on the first Prime Minister Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru. Surprisingly, it was a departure from the syllabus and subject of the BJP especially Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah but Rajnath Singh has shown his political maturity and sagacity in tune with the glorious traditions of Indian democracy, he added.
