UDHAMPUR, Oct 24: A three-day training programme on Social Defence Issues, held at the SK Police Academy (SKPA) Udhampur, concluded today.
The programme, conducted in collaboration with the National Institute of Social Defence under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, commenced on October 22, 2024. It was attended by 40 officers and officials from the J&K Police.
The training aimed to enhance the capabilities of law enforcement in providing services to vulnerable groups needing special care and legal support.
Participants were educated on relevant legal provisions, social issues, and fieldwork, with a focus on innovation in the area of social defence.
Key topics included social defence concepts, gender sensitization in policing, gender-based violence, drug abuse prevention, the roles of RRTCs and drug treatment centers and elderly care.
The sessions were led by guest speakers such as Dr Kavita Suri, Dr Shalini Sharma, Dr Abhishek Chowhan, and Dr Vinay Kumar.
The valedictory session featured Rajinder Kumar Gupta, SSP, and Deputy Director (Indoor) of SKPA, as the Chief Guest.
He emphasized the importance of law enforcement officers in addressing social defence issues and protecting vulnerable communities.
He urged participants to focus on promoting justice and societal safety.
The programme was coordinated by Inspector Abdul Momin, with assistance from SI Abdul Rashid of SKPA.
