Tremor in Kashmir, MeT says no quake

Srinagar Sept 22: A strong tremor was tonight felt in Central Kashmir with people coming out of their houses in panic. However, the Meteorological Department in Srinagar said that it was not an earthquake.
A strong tremor was felt in Srinagar and Budgam districts of Kashmir with people coming out of their houses in panic. It was just one tremor which lasted for only few seconds.
Director Meteorological Department Srinagar, Sonam Lotus said here that there was tremor but it was not due to earthquake. He said that it was not recorded in the automatic seismograph of the Centre. “It can be anything but not earthquake”, Lotus said.
However, United States Geological Survey said that earthquake was felt in Kashmir.
