UDHAMPUR, Sept 12: In a freak incident, a middle aged man travelling in van died after a suddenly uprooted tree fell on the moving vehicle in Upper Ansoo area of Panchayat Kotli, here late last night.
The deceased was identified as Mulkh Raj (58), son of Sita Ram, resident of Ansoo Kaldi, who was sitting on rear side of the ill-fated van. He reportedly died on the spot.
The incident occurred when a large tree collapsed onto the Omni Van bearing number JK08F-3504, instantly killing the individual seated in the rear while both driver and co-driver sustained injuries.
Upon receiving the alert, a team from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) rushed to the spot. Utilizing specialized equipment, they cut through the tree and conducted a rescue operation that lasted approximately half an hour to carefully extract the victim’s body from the mangled wreckage.
