Transporters project demands

JAMMU, Dec 9: All J&K Transport Welfare Association has demanded soft transport subsidy scheme for the replacement of old vehicles voluntarily.
In a meeting of the Association chaired by its leader, T.S Wazir, the speakers demanded that the transporters should not be pressurized to produce insurance certificate for replacement of vehicle and they should be allowed to operate vehicles upto the age of 25 years as is fixed by J&K High Court.
Speaking in the meeting Wazir demanded that the nine per cent onetime tax on newly purchased vehicles should be reduced without GST on chassis and body.
He also demanded that like the States of Gujarat, Maharashtra and West Bengal, the penalty as per new MVA be reduced in J&K too upto 50 per cent.
The Association also demanded revision in passenger fare for the interest of transporters.
Association members appealed to the Lieutenant Governor of J&K, G.C Murmu to solve the problems of transporters else they will start agitation.
