JAMMU, Jan 21: Eight-days model training course on “Agribusiness Development Planning and Management” commenced today at, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Jammu.
The training programme is sponsored by Directorate of Extension, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Govt of India, and is being organized by Division of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Management. The training programme is mainly designed to sensitize officers of Agriculture and allied departments of the country involved in extension activities to the whole concept of Agribusiness Development Planning and Management
Speaking at the inaugural function, Dr K S Risam, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu, briefed about the time to time importance of business activities that are performed from farm to the market. He stressed upon the supply of agricultural inputs, the production and transformation of agricultural products and their distribution to final consumers. He wished the participants an informative eight days of training programme.
Dr D P Abrol, Dean Faculty of Agriculture, in his address, discussed the importance of Agriculture and Agribusiness and was of the opinion that agribusiness along with agriculture is need of the hour.
Dr R K Gupta, Director Research of SKUAST-Jammu, talked about the relation between agriculture and business management and suggested how the combination of both will benefit the farmers.
A total number of 22 participants from the Department of Agriculture, Horticulture, Horticulture Planning and Marketing of Haryana, Bihar and Jammu & Kashmir are participating in the training programme.
Dr Anil Bhat, Assistant Professor and Course Director of the training programme gave a brief presentation about the course and highlighted the course content. He also informed the house about the resource persons and the topics to be covered during the eight days programme.
Earlier, Dr Jyoti Kachroo, Head of the Division and Convener of the training programme, highlighted the main themes to be covered during the training programme.
Dr T A S Ganai, Director Education; Dr Deepak Kher, Director Plannning; Dr S E H Rizvi, Dean, FB Sc; Rajesh Talwar, Registrar & Comptroller; Dr S K Gupta, Chief Librarian; Dr Manish Kumar Sharma, Dr Sudhakar Dwivedi, Dr S P Singh (Co-Course Director(s), Dr M Iqbal Jeelani Bhat (Course Coordinator) and Head of the divisions were also present during the function.
