JAMMU, Apr 30: A team of the RTO office Jammu today conducted intensive checking of vehicles on the National Highway between Samba and Jammu.
A large number of buses, trucks and other commercial and non-commercial vehicles were checked for various offences under the Motor Vehicles Act and 68 vehicles were compounded and fine amounting to Rs. 1.74 lakhs was realised on the spot.
Besides this 19 vehicles were also challaned. The team comprised of Arvind Kotwal, RTO Jammu, Neeraj Sharma, ARTO Jammu, Jugal Sharma, ARTO Board of Inspection, Jammu, C.S. Billowria, MVI, Avnish Sharma, MVI and Vinod Chalotra, MVI.
During the intensive checking the defaulters were also given awareness about the need to follow rules and regulations as provided under the Motor Vehicles Act. About 150 vehicles were checked during the drive.
