Traffic restored on Jammu-Sgr NH

JAMMU, Mar 15: The traffic on Jammu- Srinagar National Highway, which was closed for the last four days, was restored today.
Official sources said that National Highway authorities after clearing land slides/ debris at nearly 6-7 places between Ramban and Banihal section, allowed the movement of stranded vehicles towards Kashmir at around 12 noon. Shooting stones in Monkey Morh area, however, caused frequent traffic disruptions for some time but the movement vehicular traffic continued despite this, the sources added.
Massive traffic jamming was witnessed on the highway in Chenani ,Nashri, Peera, Chanderkote and Ramban area till late this evening. The local police and traffic cops had tough time to manage the traffic movement.
The 270-kms highway, the only all weather land link to Kashmir with rest of the country was closed on Thursday after land slides at nearly a dozen places between Nashri and Banihal. Over 4000 vehicles were stranded due to the closure of this highway. Tomorrow, the traffic from Kashmir to Jammu side will be allowed, if the weather remained clear, a traffic police official said.
