Traffic remains disrupted on Jammu-Pathankote Highway

KATHUA, May 9: Traffic was today disrupted on the Jammu-Pathankote National Highway as villagers blocked the highway for one hour demanding retrieval of body of a youth, who was washed away in river Ravi.
About 100 villagers and relatives of the youth assembled at Kalibari in Kathua district and blocked the Highway for an hour this morning, police officials said.
A youth identified as Said Mohammad son of Syed Moosa was crossing the river Ravi two days back when the water level suddenly increased and he was washed away in the river.
The protestors demanded a search to trace the body should be immediately launched.
The traffic on the Highway was blocked resulting in heavy traffic jam as long queues of vehicles were stranded on the Highway.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kathua Manmohan Singh rushed to the spot and assured the protestors that operation to trace the body will be launched soon and the body will be retrieved today.
After assurance, the protestors lifted the dharna and the traffic was restored on the highway.
