Traffic Police to launch crackdown against uniform and seatbelt violations

Jammu, Dec.15: Traffic Police will launch a massive crackdown from 1st January 2013 onwards against drivers of commercial vehicles plying without uniform, name plates and seatbelt.
All the Bus, Matador, Taxi and Autorikshaw drivers have been warned to use prescribed uniform while driving commercial vehicles or face strict action under law. Matador/Bus drivers have especially been warned not to stop their Matadors/Buses in the middle of the road for picking the passengers in future and serve the society in a disciplined manner.
DIG Traffic Range Jammu, Shakeel Ahmed Beig said drivers of commercial vehicles would be given 15 days time to arrange their uniform and name plates. The Traffic Police would take strict action against those who are found driving without proper uniform, name plates and seat belts. However, strict action against seatbelt violations by the drivers of private vehicles will start from 17-12-2012 for their safety and the safety of their loved ones. DIG further said “we will also focus on stunt bikers who use roads and streets for performing stunts in moving traffic. “Stunt biking” is a major challenge as it possess imminent and grave danger to the lives of the riders and those using the road for normal passage, he added
Moreover, since warehouse has been declared one way and entry for the warehouse will be from Asia Hotel side and exit from Bikram Chowk and no vehicle will be allowed to enter warehouse from Bikram chowk. The vehicles owners who intend to visit warehouse from City side will take U-turn from Green Belt crossing and will enter warehouse near Hotel Asia. This has been done for the smooth regulation of Traffic at Bikram Chowk and to release the pressure of heavy Traffic in Asia-Bikram Chowk tube.
