Traffic disruption for 11 hrs on NH

RAMBAN, May 11: The movement of traffic on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH) remained disrupted in Mehar and Cafeteria Morh areas near Ramban for about 11 hours today.
Official sources said that due to sudden landslides and falling of boulders near Cafeteria Morh and Mehar, the highway was blocked at 9 am this morning. With this, a large number of vehicles loaded with essential supplies for Kashmir and Leh- Ladakh remained stranded for hours together.
At around 4 pm, the highway was partially restored and hardly 35 vehicles had crossed the bottleneck, again shooting of stones started followed by another landslide at two places. The restoration work remained disrupted with falling of stones from hillock.
Over 300 vehicles remained stranded for about 11 hours due to blockade and shooting of stones. The road was again restored at around 8.45 pm and the movement of vehicles towards Kashmir started, a Traffic police official said.
