JAMMU, Feb 8: Scores of Shiv Sena activists led by party’s UT President, Manish Sahni today staged a demonstration here against the frequent traffic jams on the city roads.
Addressing media persons, Manish Sahni alleged that the traffic personnel remain busy in challanning the people by ignoring the problem of congestion on the city roads.
“It takes hours to complete a distance of minutes due to the frequent traffic snarls on the city now days,” he said.
He questioned as to how the Jammu and Kashmir Government would make the City of Temples a Smart City when it has no plans to provide the people with the basic facilities like proper roads, electricity and water.
He said most of the traffic lights installed at the city’s prominent squares have either become defunct or got damaged owing to which chances of accidents have increased manifolds.
Sahni appealed to the senior traffic police officials to improve the condition of traffic on the Jammu roads. He also offered voluntary service of Shiv Sainiks during the peak hours to streamline the overall traffic system of the city.
Those who were accompanying Sahni were Meenakshi Chibber, Vikas Bakshi, Raj Singh, Ashwini Prabhakar, Shashipal, Anshu, Muhammad Ashfraf Khanday, Vishal Verma and others.
