Srinagar, Feb 8: The J&K All Alliance Democratic Party (JKAADP) today staged a protest against the anti-encroachment drives currently going on across J&K, stating that the administration was making people homeless.
Scores of political workers associated with the JKAADP appeared in the Press Enclave and were seen holding placards and raising slogans against the administration.
State President, JKAADP, Rakib ul Rashid while talking to media persons alleged that the administration has made the poor homeless. “They are saying that they won’t touch the poor, but in this regard, no formal orders have been issued so far,” he said.
He said that those who have grabbed lands on a big scale are not being touched. “The officers who ensured these big-wigs get the state land, they should also be brought to the fore. The Government needs to elaborate on the policy which it has not so far,” he added.
He inquired why the administration was acting selectively by acting against those “who have just a few marlas and not even touching those who have grabbed hundreds of kanals of land.”
He demanded that the poor should not be touched at any cost and that the Government must provide homes to people and not turn them homeless.
Bilal Ahmad, State Secretary JKAADP said that the administration has made up its mind to “make the lives of the poor hell, then they should come out with a bulldozer and start making people homeless on a mass scale.”
He asked the administration if it is expecting poor people to earn their livelihood, or get involved in these matters. “It is a shame; people must wake up and raise their voice against the excesses being committed because it is going to affect everyone,” he said.
