JAMMU, Feb 8: BIS J&K Branch Office (BO) successfully organized a two-day residential training programme for Mentors of Standards Clubs of IIIM Jammu, Govt. Higher Secondary Schools and Kendriya Vidyalayas of J&K.
Tilak Raj, Director and Head, Branch Office stated that children are the future of strong, vibrant and dynamic nation.
“The mentor acts as guiding force to get activities under the Standards Club in a manner to channelize their creativity and enhancing their scientific temperament. It is therefore imperative that the mentors themselves understand the concepts behind standards and their roles in quality ecosystem,” he said.
With this vision, BIS J&K BO conducted the training programme in which technical lectures on overview of BIS activities, concepts of quality and standardization at national and international level, types of standardization and standards, benefits of standardization, objectives and guidelines for Standards Clubs, role and responsibilities of mentors were delivered by Nisha Bura, Scientist-D; Pankaj Atri, Scientist-D and Hitesh Yadav, Scientist-B of BIS J&K BO.
During training programme, features of BIS website, Manak Online Portal, Know Your Standards portal for free download of Indian Standards and BIS Care App were demonstrated to the participants with examples which was followed by classroom/group activity on standards writing on a variety of subjects covering different types.
The groups of mentors prepared draft standards on subjects given to them.
