SRINAGAR, Dec 25: Taking a dig at the traditional political parties for their deceptive politics, Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari today said that these political parties had been befooling the people through false narratives and fake promises for their own political gains, over the years.
“However, they stand exposed now and people do not trust them anymore,” he said, while addressing a party rally in Salar area of south Kashmir’s Pahalgam constituency, wherein people gave a rousing reception to the party leaders on their arrival at the rally venue.
Bukhari alleged that over several decades, these parties had been alluring people through emotional politics just to attain power and remain in power. He explained it further: “Earlier, they befooled people for years on the name of so-called ‘plebiscite movement’. Then they started harping about things like ‘autonomy’ and ‘self-rule’. And, now they are trying to mislead people by saying that they will get abrogated Article 370 and 35 A back.”
Cautioning against misleading politicians, Altaf Bukhari urged people not to fall into their trap anymore. “In the recent past, at the time of DDC elections, they came to you and sought your votes saying that they will get the August 5, 2019 occurrences undone. Did they do this after they won? They never meant what they told you and promised you during their poll campaign; they just used you to attain power for themselves. Now, it is your responsibility not to fall into the trap of their fake promises anymore,” he added.
Altaf Bukhari alleged that over the past 75 years, the conventional political leaders have created empires for themselves and their families, but pushed common people to poverty and deprivation. “They do not have political parties; they have their family enterprises in the name of political parties to attain power and accumulate riches for themselves,” he said.
Addressing the rally, Apni Party’s senior Vice President Ghulam Hassan Mir said that the traditional political parties ought to apologise to J&K people, especially the youth for making them cannon fodder through emotional narratives and arousing slogans.
Apni Party General Secretary and former MLA for Pahalgam constituency Rafi Ahmad Mir talked about the local issues and problems that the people of Pahalgam are grappling with.
Other prominent leaders, who were present on the occasion, included party’s provincial president Mohammad Ashraf Mir, Chief Coordinator Abdul Majeed Padder, Additional General Secretary Hilal Ahmad Shah, District President Anantnag Abdul Rahim Rather, Imaad Mir, Tariq Veeri, Anees-ul-Islam, BDC Chairman Bashir A Pathan and others.
