Srinagar, June 30: The traders who are spearheading agitation against the implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime are among around 40,000 traders who have already secured Provisional Identification Number and Password to facilitate their business operations under the new tax regime.
Additional Commissioner Department of Commercial Taxes Dr Shameem Ahmed Wani told Excelsior that 73000 traders are registered with the department and they have transferred them on GST portal.
He said that PIN and Password have been provided to 35000- 40,000 traders till date. “This PIN and Password can be used when traders will login their business portal. They can use this PIN and Password to update their current information on the GST portal”, he said.
Wani said that those traders who submitted their correct PAN cards have already secured the Provisional Identification Number and Password to run their business operations under GST.
Majority of the trade leaders spearheading campaign against the implementation of GST have already possessed Provisional Identification Number and Password to facilitate their continuation of business operations under the new tax regime.
Among them is president Kashmir Economic Alliance Mohammad Yasin Khan. “We have intimated him his Provisional Identification Number on Whatsapp”, said Wani.
