Traders protest over non- availability of basic facilities

JAMMU, Sept 8: Traders Association Shaktinagar-Rajpura today held a protest demonstration against ERA, PWD, PDD and PHE Departments for their utter failure to provide basic facilities of life.
A large number of traders led by Thakur Manmohan Singh, president of the association, carrying placards in their hands and raising slogans assembled at Shaktinagar Chowk and in a shape of procession marched towards Gurah Morh, Bakshinagar, where they sat at dharna.
Speaking on the occasion, Thakur Manmohan Singh said that people are facing many hardships due to long scheduled and unscheduled power cuts, which has also badly affected drinking water supply.
“The provision of subsidized sugar at Government ration depots has already been ceased and only atta/rice on nominal quantity on higher rates is available. The condition of roads, link roads, lanes and drains is deplorable and what to talk of Government hospitals and Super Specialty Hospital where there are no medicines for patients and even on the intervention of Chief Minister nothing has improved”, he added.
Prominent among those who participated in the protest include Gopal Sharma, Surinder Sharma, Ajay Gupta, Bushan Sharma, Kewal Krishan Jogi, Vijay Kumar, Vinod Gupta, Pt Des Raj, Sushil Gupta, Kaka Sharma, Sanjay Sharma, Subash Kumar and Krishan Lal.
