DODA, July 13: The traders and locals of Ward Number 7 Akramabad held protest against waste dumping in their area.
A large number of traders and locals stage protest and blocked the Doda-Bhagwah-Dessa road. The protestors raised slogans against Municipal Committee Doda for dumping the garbage of whole Doda town in their area.
“Due to dumping of garbage in our area, the people especially the children and old age persons are falling ill, but the administration particularly the Municipal Committee Doda has turned blind eye towards our health”, one of the protestors said.
Harmful gas emits from the dumped garbage in our area, which leads to air pollution, he said, adding that most of the people are falling ill due to foul smell emitting from the garbage dump.
“Our area is situated in north west direction of main town Tows and falls under municipal jurisdiction. Due to presence of Chemical Manure Factory in our area the garbage lifted from town is dumped in our area, which is leading to health hazard”, the protestors said.
They threatened to intensify their protest if garbage dumping is not stopped in the area.
Later, Tehsildar and SHO reached the spot and assured the protestors of redressing their issue in the shortest possible time.
On the assurance, the protestors dispersed and vehicular movement was restored on the road.
