Traders hold protest, shut business establishments

JAMMU, July 23: To lodge protest against ERA, PWD R&B Departments, traders held a protest demonstration at New Plot and shut their business establishments.
The traders led by Sunil Dimple, president, Jammu West Assembly Movement (JWAM) closed their business establishments and raised slogans against ERA, PWD R&B Departments.
Addressing the gathering, Sunil Dimple flayed the Government for not redressing the problems being faced by the Jammu people in general and West Assembly constituency in particular.
He said that due to the ongoing work, the traders have to shut their business houses as dust emitting has destroyed their material.
He alleged that sub-standard material has been used in the execution of the ongoing sewerage work which needed to be checked in the laboratory. He demanded stringent action against all those who were involved in the sub-standard quality work and to hold CBI enquiry of the ongoing work of the ERA.
Dimple demanded compensation to the traders as their business has been badly affected. He also added that they will intensify their agitation and close down their business establishments on July 30.
On getting information, Kuldeep Lal Khajuria, Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), visited the area and assured the traders that the roads will be black topped at the earliest vis-a-vis sprinkling of water and mouth masks will be provided to them for prevention from the dust.
Among others present were Sham Saroop Gupta, Sanjay Baru, Ajay Sharma, Rakesh Magotra, Vinod Suri, Rakesh, Vipan, Mukesh, Ashok Khanna, Ishar Das, Babu Singh, etc.
