SRINAGAR, Dec 3: The traders and businessmen in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district today said that they have been asked by the district administration to dole out lakhs of rupees by tomorrow as part of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
The traders, unit holders, petrol pump owners and private schools alleged that they have been asked by the district administration to deposit lakhs of rupees by tomorrow morning as they have to buy scooties and sewing machines to distribute in a function to be held in Baramulla tomorrow.
The 5 petrol pump owners said that they have been asked to pay for atleast 4-5 scooties each which amounts to over Rs 12 lakhs. “How can we pay such huge amount when there is no business? It is being enforced on us,” they said.
However, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, GN Itoo, told Excelsior that they were requested to deposit some amount as part of CSR with Red Cross Society. “They have not paid any amouint under CSR so far and we have asked them to do so,” he said.
He said that they are distributing 2-3 scooties among the disabled tomorrow. “300 cases are pending with Social Welfare Department. We are providing them some amount from Red Cross Society and they will also provide a portion for this,” he added.
