They warned that if the GST Bill is not passed on July 4, the Jammu traders would be forced to take to streets for a mass movement over the issue.
The protesting traders also submitted a memorandum to BJP State president Sat Sharma expressing their resentment over delay in implementation of GST in J&K whereas the entire country has entered into the new tax regime.
“As major stakeholders engaged in the service of our public, any suspension of import or export of essential commodities shall simply paralyze the entire business and manufacturing in the industries as well. Shortage of essential good shall impact the helpless consumer and in all probability the Government also,” the memorandum warned while highlighting the problems arising due to delay in implementation of GST in Jammu and Kashmir.
In the memorandum, the trading community also  demand that thresh hold limit of  GST should be  Rs 20 lakh  as in the other parts of country and  Toll Tax on goods must be abolished.
The protest demonstration was led by Neeraj Anand (president CTF Jammu), Rajesh Jain of Federation of Industries, Lalit Mahajan of BBIA, S Atar Singh of Chemists Distributors Association, Chander Gulati of Automobiles Association, Surinder Mahajan of Raghunath Bazar Businessmen Association, Anoop Aggarwal of Kanak Mandi Traders Association, Rohit Sharma of Pharmaceutical Distributors Association, Dinesh Gupta and others.
