Tourism Secy holds maiden review meeting

SRINAGAR, Aug 26: Secretary Tourism, Farooq Ahmad Shah today said that all efforts will be made to promote Golf Tourism in the State. He said both Jammu and Kashmir especially the valley has some world class golf courses, which can help attract high end tourists to the State.
Mr. Shah said this while chairing maiden meeting to review functioning of the Tourism Department here today.
Chief Executive Officers of all Tourism Development Authorities, Secretaries Royal Spring and Jammu Tawi Golf Courses besides other senior officers of the department were present in the meeting.
Highlighting importance of promoting Golf as a tourism product, the Secretary Tourism said that there is need to maintain all golf courses across the state to the best possible standards so that they are at par with various national and international golf courses.
In the meeting, it was emphasized that Golf tournaments would be regularly conducted both in Kashmir as well as in Jammu as this will help the state showcase its beautiful golf courses to the world, attracting golfers and tourists globally.
During the meeting extensive discussions were held with regard  to measures being taken in various Tourism Development Authorities to promote tourism activities at different destinations.
The Secretary asked the CEOs to utilize available funds judiciously and in the best possible manner in order to improve the tourism scenario in the State.
Mr. Shah also asked the concerned to work towards developing better tourism infrastructure in their respective Tourism Development Authorities. He further said steps should be taken to promote awareness about the newly developed tourist destinations and related tourism activities in order to attract higher number of tourists.
