Tourism Federation calls on Patel, seeks completion of projects

JAMMU, Dec 18: A delegation of Tourism Federation of Jammu comprising of Raman Suri, S. Amrik Singh, B.B. Kotwal, Ajay K. Gupta and Kuldeep Luthra called on Union Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Culture; and Ministry of Tourism, Prahlad Singh Patel and sought completion of tourism related projects in Jammu at the earliest. The delegation was accompanied by MP Jugal Kishore Sharma and Mahant Shri Rameshwer Dass Ji of Ram Mandir, Purani Mandi Jammu, who also extended their whole hearted support to Tourism Federation’s demands, to boost tourism in Jammu.
The delegation in their memorandum submitted to the visiting Union Minister, sought commencement of various works to boost tourism sector in Jammu. They insisted to start work on “Tawi River Front” on Sabarmati pattern and Artificial Lake at Jammu. They also sought dedicating Jammu Cable Car Project to public and connecting the same with Mubarak Mandi. Their other demands included restoration of Mubarak Mandi Heritage Complex.
Knowingly that old Jammu city is getting choked, the delegation demanded shifting of Poonch House Government Quarters at Panjtirthi and at Kachi Chawni which were constructed after demolishing erstwhile Maharaja’s stables to pave way for parks and gardens besides parking areas. They said that these quarters have outlived their lives and can be moved to better places giving employees better accommodations. This open space they added will serve as lung space for Old Jammu city and should be made part of Mubarak Mandi Heritage Society Project.
They also demanded reviving Jammu Haat on the line of Delhi Haat, Substantial improvement of public transport facilities in J&K, construction of Jammu Metro Rail connecting maximum stations/localities so that entire Jammu is covered and making Jammu Kala Kendra functional besides separate/special receiving and seeing off bays for tourists at Jammu Railway Station, Airport and Bus Stand, preparation of district wise tourism plan and tapping tourism potential of Udhampur, Reasi, Bani, Basohli, Bhaderwah, Kishtwar, Poonch & Rajouri districts.
