JAMMU, Feb 29: J&K Tourism Department showcased its famed destinations to the major stakeholders of tourism sector in the ongoing India International Tourism Exhibition (IITE) at Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh.
The department was represented by Nagendra Singh Jamwal CEO SMDA and Javed Rehman, AD DTK. The Department engaged the tour operators of Andhra Pradesh to offer upcoming Tulip bloom and Shri Amarnath Yatra to the tourists.
Speaking to the tour operators of Vijayawada, Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development Authority (JKTDA) CEO (Business) and Special Officer of Surinsar-Mansar Lake, Nagendra Singh Jamwal said that the situation in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) and the neighbouring places was peaceful and the visitors could experience the natural beauty of Kashmir without any fear.
“There is a rumour that the situation in J&K is unstable after abrogation of Article 370 but it is not true. Lakhs of tourists are visiting the place every year which is blessed with mountains, valleys, natural lakes, beautiful gardens and pilgrimage centres,” Jamwal said, adding, Surinsar-Mansar Ramsar Lake Wildlife Sanctuary in Jammu is a worthy place to visit as many species of birds, wild animals and flora and fauna could be seen in the lake.
Certain Adventure tour operators evinced interest in adventure activities and requested the J&K Tourism officers for grant of exclusive rights for a fixed period in the virgin destinations of the region.
On the occasion, Indian Association of Tour Operators’ chairman Nasir Shah said that JKTDA, tour operators, and investors would hold a road show in Vijayawada on March 2 to highlight the tourism potential of the UT of J&K and also to educate people on the beauty, peace and harmony prevailing in UT.
