JAMMU, Aug 9: Hitting out at ruling PDP-BJP coalition in Jammu and Kashmir, Congress today said the Government has failed on many fronts even after completing more than 2 years, as it was marred with controversies.
“The PDP-BJP Government has failed to take off even after a considerable time as it has created lots of controversies and hatred between different regions and sections of the State in view of their contradictory and narrow politics,” said former Minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla while addressing party workers as a part of his ongoing campaign to listen to the grievances of people of Gandhi Nagar constituency.
Bhalla said that the coalition partners not only found it difficult so far their tenure to reduce the trust deficit between them due to ideological differences but the controversies, courted by them, also had a negative impact on governance and public delivery.
He strongly criticized PDP-BJP Government for depriving about 45 lakh people of the State of their monthly sugar quota by raising rates of sugar by 85% from Rs 13.50 to Rs 25 per kg for BPL families. The present Government is hell bent to keep ration beyond the reach of poor people,” he added.
While terming the move anti-people, he said that the people of the State are already suffering a lot due to continuous border firing and increasing prices of ration at this juncture is a severe blow for the common man. He appealed the Government to restore the supply of sugar to all APL families at non subsidized rates and roll back the steep increase in sugar price for BPL families.
