Srinagar, Jul 17: Fed up with the indifference of the authorities towards the road leading to Hazratbal, Saida Kadal residents today took up the job of filling the potholed road with mud to facilitate the traffic.
The residents said that they have been on and off filling the potholes with mud and despite that, they said, the authorities have failed to take note of the issue.
“It is not any inner road; rather it is the main road leading to Kashmir University and NIT in Hazratbal. We have filled the potholes earlier too,” Imran Ahmad, a resident said.
He said that due to the heavy rush on the road today because of the NEET-UG exam, there were horrible jams on the road, all due to the potholes, compelling the resident to fill them on their own.
“We have time and again urged the administration and other officers in the SMC to take note of the issue and address the same, but since 2019, there has not been any change; it is pathetic, a shame for the administration,” the residents said.
The residents said that the concerned department had earlier started some drainage repair works and once they were done with that, the road was left unattended. “Perhaps, they are yet to complete the drainage work, but shouldn’t they attend to the road and ensure that the potholes are filled for the ease of commuters,” the residents asked.
