JAMMU, June 3: Elections to the Tirathraj Kapalmochan Shrine and Temples of district Shopian Sanastha which were overdue since 2015 were held today as per the directions of the court.
The court had appointed Kanya Lal Pandita as Election Commissioner. The elections were conducted in a cordial and peaceful atmosphere at Geeta Bhawan Muthi. Forty two percent polling was recorded. Polling started at 8.30 am till 3pm. From among 1018 total registered voters of the Sanastha, 425 votes were polled for different posts of the Sanastha.
Ashok Sathoo was elected as president , Rajiv Koul as vice president, Satish Kandhari as general secretary, Ashok Koul as treasurer and Vimesh Pandita as organising secretary.
After a gap of 12 years the elections were held to elect a new Committee of TRKM Sanastha.
The newly elected Committee led by present, Ashok Sathoo will be administered oath of office and secrecy on Tuesday.
