DODA, Aug 30: A conductor was washed away, when the tipper he was traveling in, rolled down into river Chenab here today.
The ill-fated vehicle bearing registration number JK06-3685 was on its way from Doda to Ghat, when the driver failed to negotiate a sharp curve, resulting the vehicle rolled down into river Chenab and washed away along with the conductor.
On getting information, police rushed to the spot and divers were pressed into service to trace out the body of the conductor, who has been identified as Yasir Ahmed, son of Abdul Rehman of Beoli, district Doda.
The body of the conductor could not be traced out, when reports last were compiled.
The driver of the vehicle escaped from the spot, while a case in this connection has been registered at Police Station Doda and investigation started.
