KATRA, May 21: A pregnant migrant labourer, waiting for special train at Katra Railway Station, had a safe delivery due to necessary arrangements by the Reasi district administration, which timely shifted her to hospital.
Draupadi, 24, wife of Gulu, developed labour pain in the waiting room of Railway Station Katra where she was waiting for the special train arranged for repatriation of stranded migrant labourers.
The matter was immediately reported at the Health Desk, set up by the district administration and the patient was rushed to CHC Katra where she delivered a normal female baby in the afternoon. Both, the mother and the child were pronounced healthy by the Block Medical Officer.
The family hailing from Gram Patra, Madhya Pradesh were later sent back home after necessary medical procedures. Their joy of reaching home just doubled due to quick response by the district administration.
