JAMMU, May 21: The ‘Tiger Division’ organized a “Year of Next of Kin” rally at Satwari Cantonment (Jammu) aimed at reaching out to next of kin of deceased soldiers, ex-servicemen and serving soldiers to inform them of their financial entitlements, welfare schemes and facilitate in resolving any pension related problems.
The event was graced by presence of Major General Sharad Kapur, GOC ‘Tiger Division’, Divisional Commissioner Jammu Sanjeev Verma, Sub Maj (Honorary Captain) Bana Singh, Brig TK Chopra, Deputy GOC Tiger Division and many senior Army officials and civil dignitaries. It was attended by a huge gathering of Veer Naries, next of kin of bereaved families/children and ex-servicemen.
The GOC highlighted that Indian Army has always been sensitive to the problems faced by ‘Next of Kins’ and this initiative goes beyond providing financial help. It will also facilitate in education for children which are Government financed and generating awareness of various welfare schemes launched by the Government.
He emphasized that ‘Next of Kin’ of retired soldiers, both living and deceased, need support and it is imperative to reach out to them and facilitate in updating documents, address grievances relating to pension documents, ex-servicemen contribution health scheme, CSD smart card for which separate stall were established. Special assistance in the field of education, employment and civil administration queries were also provided.
Sanjeev Verma, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, highlighted the hardships faced by soldiers and assured full support from the civil administration in resolving the issues of NoKs in a time bound manner.
Many other speakers from Army and civil administration addressed the gathering in order to generate awareness on the concerned issues. The NoKs also approached the officials about their grievances and appropriate guidance was accorded.
A large number of ex-servicemen and next of kin of bereaved families/children attended the rally.
