JAMMU, Mar 20: Three persons were killed today in two separate road mishaps at Gangyal and Sidhra area of city outskirts.
According to a police spokesman a speeding bike bearing registration number JK02AN-1716 this afternoon hit a stationary truck, parked along a road at Sidhra near Hotel Sunshine. He said that in the mishap, bike rider namely Shivam (25) son of Krishan Sharma, resident of Karna Colony, opposite Satwari Airport, was killed on the spot while the pillion rider namely Bhavika Chopra (18) daughter of Dharamveer Chopra, resident of Trikuta Nagar, received injuries.
“The injured girl and the body of the deceased were shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, where after completing all medico-legal formalities the body of deceased youth was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites while the condition of the injured girl was stated to be stable”, he said, adding, a case in this connection has been registered at police station Nagrota.
Another mishap occurred at Gangyal, where a scooty bearing registration number JK02BA-1836 was hit by an unknown vehicle on National Highway at Gangyal, opposite to petrol pump. “In the mishap, the scooty rider namely Natha Ram (62) son of Sain Dass, resident of Greater Kailash, was killed on the spot while his pillion rider namely Gungesh Mandal (30) son of Kishori Lal, resident of Baglapur, Patna (Bihar), who was presently residing at Trikuta Nagar (Jammu), sustained serious injuries”, he said.
The spokesman further informed that the injured man was immediately rushed to GMCH Jammu, where he succumbed to his injuries after some time. “The body of the Natha Ram was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites after conducting post mortem while the post mortem of the body of Gungesh Mandal will be conducted tomorrow”, he said, adding Gangyal police has registered a case in this connection and started investigations.
