Three held with 862 bottles of banned syrup

JAMMU, July 25: Police arrested three persons hailing from Srinagar along with large quantity of banned syrup bottles from Manda area, falling under the jurisdiction of Pacca Danga police station.
According to Incharge SSP Jammu Rajiv Pandey, information was received regarding smuggling of banned syrup from Delhi to Srinagar after which Pacca Danga police was asked to raise a naka and thwart the designs of narcotic smugglers.
Police team from Pacca Danga police station laid naka at Manda and intercepted a Santro car bearing registration number JK02A-9274 on its way from Delhi towards Srinagar, he added.
He stated that during checking, police recovered 862 bottles of banned syrup and arrested three persons on the spot. The car has also been seized.
The accused have been identified as driver Reyaz Ahmed, son of Ghulam Qadir of Sarnal Pain Anantnag, Showkat Wani, son of Ghulam Ahmed Wani of Sarna Walla Anantnag and Rasat Khurshid, son of Khurshid Ahmed of Lajbal Anantnag, Mr Pandey disclosed.
He further mentioned that the narcotic smugglers were carrying the banned syrup bottles to Srinagar from Delhi for sale among youth, but their nefarious designs were thwarted by Pacca Danga police.
A case under FIR Number 123/15 under Section 8/21/22 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and 48 Excise Act under Drugs Ordinance Act has been registered against the trio at police station Pacca Danga and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Pacca Danga police station Inspector Kuldeep Khajuria made the arrest on the directions of Incharge SSP Jammu Rajiv Pandey and under the supervision of Perbeet Singh SDPO City North and Shiv Kumar Singh Chouhan, SP City North.
