JAMMU, Aug 12: Bishnah, Bahu Fort and Gandhi Nagar Police busted three gangs involved in issuing SIM cards on forged documents and arrested five persons.
As per police sources, complaints were received at Police Stations Bishnah, Bahu Fort and Gandhi Nagar regarding gangs operation in their jurisdiction, which are selling SIM cards on fake and forged documents.
Acting over the complaints, cases under relevant sections were registered at Police Stations Bishnah, Bahu Fort and Gandhi Nagar.
To work out the cases, teams from Police Station Bishnah led by SHO Inspector Pawan Kumar under the supervision of SDPO RS Pura Surinder Singh, Police Station Bahu Fort led by Inspr Nayat Ali assisted by PSI Sunil Singh and ASI Khalil Ahmed under the supervision of SDPO East
Syed Zaheer Abbas Jafari and Police Station Gandhi Nagar led by SHO Inspector Pankaj Sharma under the supervision of SDPO South Sachit Sharma were constituted.
The teams put in hectic efforts and finally busted three gangs involved in issuing SIM cards on fake and forget documents by arresting five vendors. These arrested vendors first copy and paste a number as well as other details of a voter viz his name, address, parentage and then filling this information in a fake electoral card, they generate the fake photo copy of a electoral card thereby requesting for a new SIM. The Telecom companies issue the SIM on the said document, which during investigation turned out to be fake.
The arrested vendors were identified as Sunil Sagotra, son of Satpal of village Chorli Tehsil Bishnah District Jammu, Subash Thakur, son of Bahadur Singh of District Kishtwar, at present Bagh-e-Bahu District Jammu, Deepak Kumar, son of Jeet Kumar of Bagh-e-Bahu District Jammu, Mohan Singh, son of late Gopal Singh of Channi Rama District Jammu and Sahil Kumar, son of Ashok Kumar of Chowadhi District Jammu.
The role of officials of Telecom companies is also under scrutiny.
Further investigation into the cases is going on and more arrests are likely to be made in near future.
