Three drug peddlers arrested with poppy straw

RAMBAN, Nov 27: Banihal and Bahu Fort Police arrested three drug peddlers and recovered poppy straw from their possession.
As per police sources, on specific information a team from Police Station Banihal laid a naka at T- Chowk and intercepted a truck bearing Registration Number PB31P-5715.
During checking, police team recovered 35 kilograms of poppy straw from the vehicle and arrested two persons, who were identified as Aman Kumar, son of Jeet Ram of Kotewal District Jalandhar and Gurpreet Singh, son of Surinder Kumar of Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Nagar, District Jalandhar.
During preliminary questioning, both the accused have confessed that they were illegally transporting the contraband substance towards Jammu.
A case under FIR Number 207/2021 under Section 8/15/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Banihal and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Banihal Inspector Nayeem Mattoo made the arrest under the direct supervision of SDPO Banihal Ashish Gupta and SSP Ramban PD Nitya.
Meanwhile, a team from Police Station Bahu Fort led by SHO Inspector Deepak Pathania and assisted by ASI Manzoor Ahmed under the supervision of SDPO East Sajad Sarwar and SP South Deepak Digra laid a naka and intercepted a person, who was moving under suspicious circumstances.
During checking, police team recovered 19.400 kilograms of poppy straw from the possession of the person and arrested him.
The accused was identified as Ranjeet Rajak, son of Bhirgu Nath Rajak of Village Ghartwalia, District Siwan, Bihar.
A case under FIR Number 379/2021 under Section 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Bahu Fort and investigation started.
