POONCH, Sept 15: Organized by Directorate of Health Services (DHS) Jammu, a three-day specialty camp for eye check up and cataract surgeries at District Hospital (DH) culminated today.
The Camp was organized by Directorate of Health Services Jammu to increase cataract surgeries and achieve the targets allotted under National Programme for Control of Blindness & Visual Impairment (NPCB&VI), under the directions of Secretary Health & Medical Education, Bhupinder Kumar.
A team of Consultant Ophthalmologists and Ophthalmic Technicians comprising of Dr Kamal Gupta (Nodal Officer NPCB) from Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar Jammu, Dr Ghanshyam Singh (CHC Akhnoor) and Dr Satinder Kumar (RS Pura), Koushal Kumar (Government Hospital, Gandhi Nagar), Dharminder (DH Rajouri) and Mohd Shafiq (DH Rajouri) was deputed to DH Poonch for the camp.
District Development Commissioner Poonch Yaseen Mohd Choudhary inaugurated the camp. During three-day long camp, 166 patients were screened for eye ailments and a total of 65 patients were detected with cataract and selected for cataract surgeries. Thirty-nine successful cataract surgeries were performed by the deputed team.
The event was managed by joint efforts of CMO Poonch Dr Anis Altaf Nabi and MS Poonch Dr Zulfiqar Ahmed. In its commitment to provide accessible and quality eye care services to the community, Directorate of Health Services Jammu has scheduled another cataract surgery session by skilled eye surgeons to be held at District Hospital Poonch from 19th to 21st September. The left out cataract surgeries will be performed in this scheduled second session.
