RAJOURI, Feb 8: In order to curb the menace of illegal distillation and sale of illicit liquor, the Excise Department, conducted a series of raids at village Sasaalkote, Mohra, Jawahar Nagar, Sagote and many others villages and arrested and booked three persons under Excise Act.
The arrested persons were identified as Rajesh Kumar son of Behari Lal of Village Kaller, Sanvi Devi wife of Kamal Sharma of village Sagote and Kanta Devi wife of Jeet Lal of Village Shahpur. During the course of raids, 350 kg of Lahan and 70l of illicit liquor were destroyed on the spot.
The raids were conducted by sleuths of Excise Department, Excise Range, Rajouri, led by Excise Inspector Dr Sajad Majid under the supervision of Sheraz Ahmed Chauhan, Excise and Taxation Officer, Rajouri-Poonch Range and on the directions of T Angchuk, State Excise Commissioner and Mohd Shahid Saleem Dar, Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive), Jammu.
