In response to the allegations leveled against the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi by former Chief Minister and vice president of the National Conference (NC) that he (PM) bowed before the China, the BJP leader said that it is shameful when entire world has backed India’s air strikes on terror camps in Pak, Omar Abdullah was talking in such a way.
In response to another question that NC president and former Chief Minister, Dr Farooq Abdullah accused the Narendra Modi Government of attacking terror camps in Pak eyeing the coming Lok Sabha elections in the country, Khanna said the air strike was carried out by Indian Air Force and a strong political will power was behind them. He said Army has carried such attack to defend the nation.
‘’Opposition parties across the country supported the move. It is unfortunate that he says one thing in Kashmir, another in Jammu and something else in Delhi. This decision regarding air strikes was in the interest of the country and for the first time, the army was given a free hand to decide the timing and nature of the retaliation. This is not an election issue but a concern of national security and the strength of the nation’’, he said.
Earlier Khanna launched the election campaign while addressing the Shakti Kendra Parmukhs Sammelan. He asked the party cadre to go from door to door in Valley and highlight the achievements of five years of Narendra Modi Government. He said the Modi Government during last five years launched many public welfare programmes and projects in the country by paying a special attention to backward states including J&K.
He said the party men have to go to voters with these welfare schemes and seek mandate for the party in coming Lok Sabha elections. The J&K has to contribute in fulfilling the BJP’s target of 400 plus seats in coming Lok Sabha elections, he added.
“Last time our mission was 272 Plus seats. This time BJP’s aim is 400 Plus seats. We fought last elections on Modi’s name and this time we will fight it on his name as well as on the basis of five years performance of the Modi led Government in Delhi. In the last five years we have done such a great work which the previous governments could not do in the 60 years’’, Khanna added.
Addressing the Sammelan BJP State general secretary (Org), Ashok Koul said that he salutes the BJP activists from Valley who have organised such a historical programme of the party in Sher-e-Kashmir Park. “Arranging of such an open meet in the SKP indicates that BJP has been strengthened in Kashmir Valley to a great extent’’. He asked the party men to join campaigning openly without fair and take Modi’s policies and programmes to every house hold in Valley and unmask the opposition parties who misled them for last 70 years for their vested political interests.
MLC, Surinder Ambardar and Party senior leader and vice president, Ali Mohammed Mir also addressed the Sammelan.
The stage was managed by party State spokesperson, Altaf Thakur.
