Those opposing delimitation are enemies of democracy: Raman Suri

JAMMU, June 13: State Executive member of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Raman Suri today lashed out at those opposing delimitation in Jammu and Kashmir State and said that they are enemies of democracy who don’t want people to have their true representatives in State Legislative Assembly.
There are people in far off places who go unrepresented because their constituencies are spread in large geographical areas and their elected MLAs cannot do justice with all of them.
Suri said that all those former legislators who have opposed the proposed delimitation exercise in the State are either turncoats or had been fixing elections by getting weak candidates fielded against them by major political parties.
“Once delimitation is done such forces will become irrelevant and their constituencies will either be divided into more segments or true representatives will emerge to give them tough competition. This is the reason they are opposition delimitation”, he added.
Raman Suri challenged these leaders to prove how such move will alienate the people and will weaken the secular fabric of the State?. He said that such hollow threats and anti-national slogans are a passé and people have realized that nothing less than a strong and vibrant democracy can bring Jammu and Kashmir back on rails for which corruption is to be rooted out and transparency maintained.
