Srinagar, Aug 3: Police today said that it arrested a robber and recovered gold ornaments worth lakhs in Budgam district.
A police spokesman said that police were receiving various reports of burglary incidents in Beerwah area of the district. “Accordingly various cases were registered in police station Beerwah and the investigation was set into motion,” he said.
The spokesman said that during the course of investigation, police zeroed upon one suspect namely Mushtaq Ahmad Shah. The suspect on being questioning confessed his crime, he said.
“On his instance, gold ornaments worth Rs.3 lakhs were recovered from his residential house at Kanigund Beerwah, which he had stolen from Chewdara and Ohengam against which cases stand already registered in Police Station Beerwah on 11/12/2016 and 03/03/2017.
Further investigation of the case in going on and more recoveries are expected,” the spokesman added.
