BHADERWAH, Apr 27: Police arrested a thief along with stolen gold ornaments weighting 5.9 grams worth Rs 16,500.
A police spokesman said that on February 13, 2014 Sheikh Masood Ahmed, son of late Sheikh Abdul Latief of Pasri, Bhaderwah reported about burglary in which gold ornaments weighting 5.9 grams was stolen.
Accordingly a case under FIR number 22/14 under Section 457 and 380 RPC was registered at police station Bhaderwah and investigations started.
During the course of investigation, a gold smith namely Mohit Kumar, son of Ashwani Kumar of Attalgarh, Bhaderwah disclosed the name of the accused who came to him for selling the stolen ornament but the gold smith refused to buy the ornament.
On the clue given by the gold smith, police party of police station Bhaderwah arrested the accused, who has been identified as Rashid Hussain, son of Riaz Ahmed of Bal Kati, Bhalra.
The accused is on police remand and being interrogated to ascertain his involvement in other theft cases.
Police party headed by Bandeshwar Singh, SHO Police Station Bhaderwah made the arrest under the supervision of Ifroz Ahmed, SDPO Bhaderwah and SSP Doda Mohammad Sharief Chouhan.
