Thief arrested, stolen jewellery worth several lakhs recovered

DODA, June 5: Police solved a burglary case with the arrest of thief and recovery of stolen jewellery worth several lakhs.
Addressing a press conference, SP Bhaderwah Raj Singh Gouria informed that in the month of September last year, a case was registered at Police Station Doda on the written complaint of Man Singh of Pathan area regarding theft of about 100 grams (10 tolla) gold ornaments from his house.
Acting over the complaint, a case under relevant sections was registered at Police Station Doda and investigation started.
SP Bhadarwah said that during the course of investigation, number of suspects were rounded up and questioned, adding that during the course of investigation, one notorious thief identified as Pervaiz Ahmed, son of Abdul Rashid, a resident of District Kishtwar was arrested from Jammu.
“During questioning, Pervaiz Ahmed confessed that he committed the theft”, SP said, adding that on the disclosure of the accused, all the stolen items were recovered.
Further questioning of the accused is going on to ascertain his involvement in other theft cases, SP added.
The arrest was made by Incharge Police Post Prem Nagar Balwant Singh Parihar under the supervision of SDPO Bhadarwah Aadil Rishu, SP Bhadarwah Raj Singh Gouria and SSP Doda Mumtaz Ahmed.
