JAMMU, Aug 24: Gangyal police under Operation Meghdoot arrested a thief and recovered stolen gold ornament and three bikes from his possession.
As per police sources, on December 12 last year, a complaint was lodged by Rakesh Kumar, son of Krishan Chand of Sector Number 4 Gangyal with Police Station Gangyal stating that during the intervening night of December 6 and 7, some unknown person entered into his house and stolen gold ornament.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 138/16 under relevant sections was registered at Police Station Gangyal and investigation started.
During the course of investigation, several suspects were rounded up and out of them, one of the suspect broke down and confessed that he had committed the theft.
Police arrested the thief, who has been identified as Sukhvinder Singh, son of Balvinder Singh of Resham Garh Colony. On his disclosure, stolen gold ornament was recovered from his possession.
During further investigation, three stolen motorcycles were also recovered from his possession.
Further questioning of the accused is going on to ascertain his involvement in other theft cases.
Police team led by SHO Gangyal SI Nayat Ali made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO South Mohammad Rafiq Manhas and SP South Sandeep Choudhary.
