KATHUA, Dec 8: Chadwal police arrested a thief within few hours and recovered stolen gold ornaments and cash from his possession.
As per police spokesman, a complaint was lodged by Suresh Kumar, son of Bansi Lal of Seswan Tehsil Marheen stating that some unknown person(s) entered into his house and decamped with gold ornaments and Rs 40,000 cash.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 269/18 under section 454 and 380 RPC was registered and hunt was launched to nab the accused.
During the course of investigation, a team from Police Post Chadwal led by SI Ashwani arrested the accused within few hours.
The arrested person has been identified as Javed Ahmed Bhat, son of Gulzar Ahmed Bhat of Batarda Basohli District Kathua. On his disclosure, the stolen gold ornaments and cash were recovered.
Further questioning of the accused is going on to ascertain his involvement in other theft cases.
