DODA, July 31: Thathri police arrested a thief and recovered stolen cash from his possession.
As per police sources, yesterday a complaint was filed by Mohammad Hussain, son of Gul Ahmed of Guwalo, tehsil Gandoh with police station Thathri stating that some unidentified persons had stolen his Rs 20000 cash, when he was travelling from Doda towards Thathri in a mini-bus.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 54/17 under Section 379 RPC was registered and investigation started.
During the course of investigation, police team detained a person travelling in the same mini-bus and during sustained questioning, the person broke down and confessed to commit the theft.
Police arrested the thief, who has been identified as Mohammad Rafeeq, son of Mohammad Sabar Butt of Sakwan, district Doda. On his disclosure, the stolen cash has been recovered.
Further questioning of the accused is going on to ascertain his involvement in other theft cases.
Police team led by SHO Thathri Inspector Manjeet Singh and assisted by Incharge Prem Nagar police post ASI Balwant Singh made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Bhaderwah Brijesh Sharma, Additional SP Bhaderwah Shaazad Salaria and SSP Doda Mohammad Shabir.
