They made you false promises but we fulfill what we promise: Rahul on Nyay scheme

NEW DELHI: Asserting that unlike the ‘false’ promises made by the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi like depositing Rs 15 lakh in their accounts, the Congress always fulfills its promises to people, party president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday said that his party would deposit Rs 3.6 lakh in accounts of the poorest 20 per cent families of the country in five years if voted to power in the Lok Sabha elections.

Addressing the national convention of the party’s OBC department in Delhi, Rahul said, ”during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the PM lied when he said that Rs 15 lakh would be deposited in the account of every Indian. But we said that we cannot deposit Rs 15 lakh but would give Rs 72000 per year in account of poorest 20 per cent families. This means 3.6 lakh would be deposited in accounts of these families in five years.

This is what NYAY means. When the farmers in Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh came to us for waiver of their loans, we promised to do this within ten days of coming to power. We did it in two days of coming to power.”

”We are talking about NYAY (Justice) while they are taking about ‘anyay’ (injustice). They tell you a lie, we speak the truth before you, ”Rahul said. (AGENCIES)
